The event saw the planting of over 165 trees, including Bauhinia, Gomelia, Royal Palm, and Bottle Brush, all chosen specifically to combat desertification and promote a healthier environment in the region.

“We are proud to be part of the solution. This year’s World Environment Day theme, “Land Restoration: From Desertification to Transformation, resonated deeply with the initiative’s goals. All the eucalyptus trees around this area were cut down and we have replaced them with ornamental trees. Planting trees and promoting sustainable land management practices are crucial steps to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and combat the effects of desertification, explained Ego Moshemondong , Divisional delegate of Forestry and Wildlife of Donga-Mantung. These efforts, she continued, “lead to cleaner air, improved water quality, and a more resilient environment for all.”

The event served as a springboard for further collaboration and environmental action. “World Environment Day is a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility towards the environment, we are committed to working towards a more sustainable future,” emphasized Limbi Blessing, visionary director of Eco Balance “and this is just one step in the right direction.” The sentiment was echoed by Francis Mondembe Menyoli from MINEPDED, who stressed the importance of collective action. “Let’s continue to collaborate and inspire others to protect Mother Earth!”

The success of environmental initiatives hinges on collaboration. Ecological Balance Cameroon is committed to working alongside the community, local government officials, and environmental experts to achieve long-term environmental sustainability in Nkambe. Together, we can create a brighter future for generations to come.
